LOVE LIES DEEP

Love lies deep
In many a grave,
To the sunshine denied them
Upon flaking epitaph displayed.
For millennia, surging lifeforce
The seed of life transcends,
The unity of free spirit
It never, will never, love without end.
Juliet still waits
Throughout time for her song,
Cleopatra, with asp in hand
Eons of love so strong.
The warmth of desire
Like night preceding morning,
Yearning passion, love burns
Immortal and infinite dawning.
Diamond hewn from the rock
Rare and pure, unity to keep,
Eternal ring, golden glow
Bound in spirit, love lies deep.
Lovers caress, their kisses strewn
Like confetti or falling leaves,
Gaslamps shine on secret liaisons
Desperate need in fogbound eaves.
Love lies deep
Etched in the trunk of trees,
And transmitted by satellites
Across distant seas.
Tears of joy, or even pain
Moistened memory on diary page,
Throughout time, always the same
Love lies deep, whatever the age.
