CELEBRITY……DON’T!!
The
advent of celebrity, an unfunny joke,
Don’t
care what they’re wearing, off the peg or bespoke.
The
munching of insects or the inflation of breasts,
Don’t
care about the furnishings with which they feather their nests.
***
The
ghost writers’ novels or revelations in a rag,
Don’t
care if they’re celibate, a mistress or a WAG.
This talent less bunch invading our screens,
Don’t
care about their views on sex or baked beans.
***
They
try their hand at dancing, even selling their place,
Don’t
want to see newsreaders in a charity race.
They’re
famous for being famous, with nothing to give,
Don’t
want to know how these frauds live.
***
They’re
backed by an army of mindless sheep,
Don’t
want to buy into it no matter how cheap.
All
publicity is good, that’s what they say,
Don’t let the absence of morals or standards
get in the way.
***
If
you think Britain’s got talent or the X-factor,
Don’t
listen to me, I’m just a detractor.
No
care for the classics, prose or anything funny,
Don’t
bother the celebrity, as they don’t bring in the money.

The people who are supposed celebrities, I often wonder who makes them. Is it the press or the public or both. Celebrities used to be people who had done something worthwhile. The wide variety of subject matter in your poems is surprising. Well done x
