"LOOK MOMMY"


“LOOK MOMMY”

“Look Mommy, is that a bird in the sky?”
“No darling, it’s a missile
We’re all going to die!”
This is the beauty of progress
When politicians spoon honey for your vote.
They sit mightily in congress
Where Nero fiddles his final note.
Famine and flood mean nothing,
Shareholders and bankers hold sway.
Your taxes wasted on nonsense,
Did you vote for judgement day?
Taxes for roads that are crumbling,
Or, for overstretched healthcare.
In the potholes which we’re stumbling,
Its weapons that get the most share.
The rape of our natural resources,
The Earths cradle left fighting for life.
Whitehall and Whitehouse get ten courses,
African children can’t even lick the knife.
Billions spent on the ‘Hadron collider’
The ‘Higgs boson’ we needed to find.
Just to determine the decider,
What caused the start of mankind?
Men in white coats holding clipboards,
The poor holding cups out for water.
Nobel invented destruction before awards,
Which brings me back to mom and her daughter.
“Look mommy, that cloud's like a mushroom”
