A HEROES DEATH

My lord has gone
My hero taken away,
A musket ball through the spine
Has darkened our victory today.
The splendid banners
Our hearts of oak,
The fog of war
In a heroes blood we soak.
Our Nel, the bulwark
A mariners dream,
To serve him
The senior service cream.
We manned the guns
We answered Old Albions call,
My hero resplendent, leading us
A father to us all.
Lord Nelson the greatest ever Englishman
I'd have served you til my dying breath,
You died as you lived in valour
You died a heroes death.
Phil Hall August 2013
