SHOT

A man was shot dead

In a pub near me.

I didn’t hear it

Nor did I see,

But, it was soon all over

The news on Sky TV.

A man was shot dead near me.

The place isn’t known

For gangsters and thugs,

Not even regarded

As a place selling drugs,

I don’t use it

As it’s frequented by mugs.

Who was this man near me?

It makes me wonder,

It makes me ask why?

Did he just go in for a pint

And a hot meat pie?

Or did he go for a drink

Expecting to die?

Yet another pub will close near to me.
