DARKNESS RISING

DARKNESS RISING

A lonely man,
Standing at the lectern,
It’s the solemn President.
Uncompromising and stern.
Speech never hesitant,
Darkness rising.

A fragile man,
With untold power,
Never once was he smug.
Generals in White house tower,
Take a hammer to the bug.
Darkness rising.

A family man,
Is that a falling tear?
This is too often,
Still there’s no fear.
Resolve he can’t soften.
Darkness rising.

An American man,
Like you full of hope,
For a safer world make no error.
He’ll cast the freedom rope,
Hold firm and end the terror.
Darkness falls.
