THE BOMBER
Back in the early
sixties,
West Brom signed a
young man,
His name was Tony
Brown,
Unheard of by many a fan.
This fresh faced
youth turned up
To matches on the
bus.
He wasn’t a legend
then,
So nobody made a
fuss.
Soon though, the
fans they
All became aware,
We had a special
player,
Who had a talent,
very rare.
A shot of ferocious
power,
He scored nearly
every game,
The fans soon re
christened him.
The ‘Bomber’ became
his name.
A striking
partnership blossomed,
Namely, the fearsome
Astle and Brown.
Jeff Astle was the
King,
But, the ‘Bomber’
shared his crown.
They scored goals
for fun those days,
We won the F.A.
cup.
In ’76 at Oldham, a
trademark rocket
From ‘Bomber’, sent
the Baggies’ up.
He starred through
both golden eras,
The 60’s, then 70’s
under ‘Big Ron’,
His famous goals
against Valencia,
For us fans still
linger on.
He’s a starred
plaque in his honour,
On Birmingham’s
walk of fame,
The living legend
Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown,
We fans still chant
his name.
