DON’T TALK...DO!

The mandates you presented,

To get yourselves into power,

Have the substance of a loaf of bread,

Without using any flour.

You talk; debate and you get made up,

To spout soundbites on the air.

Just suited talking heads droning on and on,

In truth, you don’t really care.

To promote my point, let’s consider guns,

And their use around the world.

In the hands of the general public,

We’ve watched the tragedies unfurled.

Hungerford; a massacre which shocked Britain,

To the horrors at the school in Dunblane.

The US killings at the learning seat of Columbine,

Where so many students were slain.

Almost every month we hear another news story,

With innocent people being shot dead.

The years of governments just talking about it,

Shows they’ve still put no flour in the bread.

Committees, enquiries and white papers,

The reams of documents and policies too.

Have achieved absolutely nothing,

Stop waffling for once and don’t talk... DO!!!
